SHIG (1659), Oberoffligen, Germany Sep 24, 2006 Poured a dark brown in color with a ligh t brown head. Sweet Caramel spice aroma. Deep burnt floral malt flavor that finished sweet.
Tmoney99 (3717), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Nov 17, 2008 Bottle sample at Cock and Bull. Poured hazy amber color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate sweet balanced yeasty aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Complex soft brew. WISEGUY572 (1158), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 19, 2008 Kind of annoying to call this a Belgian strong, or a Belgian anything for that matter. There are some great new craft brewers in Italy but these guys are not one of them. Taste of caramel and then nothing. DrBayern (989), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Oct 19, 2008 From the bottle at the WBF VIP tent on 10/4/2008. Clear orange pour with a solid medium white head and thick lace. Very fruity, caramel/toffee aroma with little hop influence to speak of. Fairly sweet maltiness dominates, the softest of bittering becomes apparent as the finish approaches. Quite smooth, drinkable, with a medium body and light carbonation. Overall, a little sweet, but I think that is intended, and in the right situation, nothing wrong with that. Seems pretty good to me, and under appreciated. SSSteve (1592), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 17, 2008 lightly hazy amber under a small filmy head. lifeless appearance. smell of red grapes, alcohol. flavors of caramel, chestnuts, pepper, almond. well hidden alcohol. light bodied. a strange one. nutty, sugary, bitter, and oddly spicy with a light body and well hidden hefty abv. ?
