2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Sunset Grill drunk Summer 2008. I guess it really dosent matter if this is listed as a Doppelbock (as it was previously) or if the brewery intended it to be a doppelbock, because it isn’t and is certainly a poor example of the style. Frankly, it dosent matter what it’s listed as, the beer is so heavily flawed. Weak, watery pour with very little head showing, clear and filtered and a maroon-beige colored body. Nearly infected smelling, with off-putting bacterial and/or strange mineral notes. Some alcohol in the nose and a light dose of caramel. The flavor is very washed out, with a watery mouthfeel and too much alcohol on the finish. Nearly tart in flavor with raisins, plums and red fruit-like notes from the yeast, I assume? Caramel-raisin maltiness is undone by the alcohol cutting through it, while more tartness shows up on the finish. A sort of spoiled fruit tartness, that is....Not my cup of tea, whatever the case, and a seemingly poorly brewed example of whatever it’s trying to be.

Amberkleurig, redelijke schuimkraag, ruikt zoet en kruidig. Smaakt prima, wel wat erg zoet, winter/kerstbier.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Birra d’autore prodotta con malti pregiati. Dietro ai riflessi ambrati si nascondono presenze di luppolo e lieviti speciali.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Deep copper with a small head. Aroma is caramel, raisins, some spice and malt. Sticky mouth feel with low carbonation. Aftertaste is sweet caramel, some floral hops, dryness, tobacco and alcohol. Overall: Okay. Boring, but well brewed.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 8/20
Buon sapore ma un po’ troppo aggressiva. Interessante retrogusto e aroma. All’apparenza potrebbe sembrare priva di corpo.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Small bottle, not the flip top seen here. Pours deep gold, off-white head. Nose is floral, yeast spice, paper, alcohol. Flavour is same with toffee and pepper. My words are failing to describe how this gets such a relatively high rating from me... the floral toffee and yeast worked well together.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours an ever so slightly hazed amber with ring of near white head. Reminds me of a mead. Nose is layered with a floral perfume, apples, and just the smallest alcohol esters. Flavor is boozy, with raisins, and other dark fruits
