Bottle. Slightly hazy yellow gold, foamy lacy white head. Grainy aroma and palate, husky even, with some subtle cidery fruit character. Reminds me of my uncle Marc’s homebrew. Not good.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 Rastacouere (5918) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 11, 2011
Gently veiled golden hue covered by a fair white foam, Highly soapy, rough green grain, stale cereals nose. It grows annoyingly worty as it warms in its vegetal graininess. Unpleasant notes of bile, salty broth. Sweet and dull crackery developments remain simplistic and edged. Hops remain very shy all throughout. Fading carbonation enhances the oily soapiness. I’m sorry, but I don’t find this average. It’s packed with imprecisions that make it pretty mediocre. Just in the province of Quebec, plenty of brewers, especially brewpubs, now produce exquisite and even exciting basic blondes. Putting out unrefined/uncaring blondes, as low-priced as it may be both to produce and on the shelves, is something we’ve come to expect from macros, but that we thought micros were striving to avoid. Where’s the love?
