Boutip (3451) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 9, 2012
Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a super large light brown foamy head with great retention and excellent lacing. Aroma consists of dry roasted malt with note of medium dry coffee. Taste is also a mix between some dry roasted malt notes with some dry coffee notes which are well enough balance to avoid veering into astringent territory. Body is about average with carbonation that exceeds the style guideline.

Bouteille 341ml.

Spab (1194) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 30, 2011
341 ml bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits (Halifax). Pours a very dark brown with small tan head. Aroma is moderately sweet milk chocolate with some coffee bean. Flavour is also quite chocolatey with a more pronounced roast coffee note and some mineraliness. A bit of dryness and bitterness in the finish. Good.

DuffMan (4418) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 24, 2011
Bottle. Nearly black pour with a robust, tan colored head. Aroma is chocolate and roast. Palate leans toward the sweeter end of the style, with prominsnt chocolate, coffee, and bitter roast. With a dry, slightly minerally finish.A good stout.

341ml bottle into a tulip. Opaque black pour with a big mocha head that has a reddish/purplish look about it. The nose is heavily loaded with milky chocolate. There’s an odd light sour note on top that I can’t define. Fairly light on the palate with that one trick chocolate feel sliding all the way through the taste. The finish fades into a more coffee feel with the slightest of bitterness.

Black colour with a thin tan head. Lovely roasted, chocolate malt aroma. Malt chocolate, coffee bean flavour. Slight offish feel to the beer. Nice finish. Surprisingly enjoyable.

GarnotingPete (357) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 6, 2011

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2011 tan frothy head and leaves some lace. Dark in colour. Aromas are fig, roasted malts, espresso, oats and cream. tastes bitter with toast, coffee and is quite carbonated and finishes with a hint of molasses. it has a bit of a metallic feel to it. I would have like to see more body but it is a decent everyday stout although i find it has a bit too much of a cola feel to it.

Exactly what we want to taste in a classic stout : Big and malty, roasted all the way, big hops to continue the eternal finish, medium body and oily texture (not too light like a porter, or should I say like my stouts are...). Strong carbonation though. Little head, dark beige-brown foam. Excellent classic!
