Spab (1194) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 11, 2011
341 ml bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits. Pours a slightly hazy slightly rubyish brown with a large frothy light tan head. Aroma is caramel with a little mineraliness and nuttiness. Flavour likewise. Something a little odd/off in the finish. Not too great.

DuffMan (4418) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 10, 2011
Bottle. Red amber, slightly hazy, with a lively tan head. Quite a plastic aroma, not very nice. Sweet caramel malt is trumped by plastic chemical flavour that is just too much. Freshness should not be a factor here, with a BBD of June 2011. Not good.

Gethinbeer (1561) - Musky, Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAY 8, 2011
Copper colour with a frothy head and lace. Malt caramel aroma. Very appealing so far. Thin body and flavour. Slight chemical hints with malt. Not to pleasant.

34ml bottle. Pours a deep amber with hints of red with an eggshell head that recedes quickly leaving a thin ring of lace. Not a whole lot going on in the nose; faint hints of caramel and nutty malt and a little wisp of citrusy hops. There’s something off on the palate and it finishes in a mess. There’s a serious green note in there. On the plus side there is a nice roastiness hiding under that vegetal funkiness.

Rastacouere (5918) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 10, 2011
A mostly lasting white cover settles above the hazy reddish amber. Grainy malt nose with soft caramel undertones and soft yeast esters akin to strawberries, but also an unusual both mineral and vegetal side that reminds of tomato soup, not necessarily a good thing. In mouth, the oddities keep up on parallel with the malts that never really develop an appreciable toastiness/breadiness/nuttiness - remaining generically grainy and punctuated with red fruit/veggies flavours. Where I appreciate most of AMB’s new lineup, this one kinda misses the target. From a classic red ale, you’d expect pristine cleanliness and this one feels a bit dirty and with more than a few misplaced flavours. And since there are plenty of substitutes, it’s one I’m not gonna buy for a long while.

Boutip (3451) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 17, 2011
Bottle: Poured a clear medium amber color ale with large off-white foamy head with good retention and some OK lacing. Aroma of medium caramelized malt with some cereal notes. Taste is also a nice mix of caramelized malt with some nice cereal notes with balance sweetness. Body is average with good carbonation. Good session amber ale with limited complexity.
