COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Reeks of spent grain. Too fizzy. Tastes like spent grain. Not much going for this. All I can think of is a mouthful of spent grain washed down with soda water.

Évaluation no 79. Avril 2011.

341ml bottle. Dark amber copper colored, thin white head. Caramel, dark fruit and roasted malt. Alcohol is well hidden. Creamy and sweet but the finish doesn’t last long. Not bad!

Spab (2243) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 28, 2011
341 ml bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits (Halifax). Pours a cloudy slightly rubyish brown with tan head that recedes to virtually nothing. Aroma is chocolate, wood and light toffee. Flavour is chocolate, toffee and oakiness. Body is thinner than might be expected. Ok.

Bouteille 341ml.

341ml bottle. Pours with effectively no head. Appearance is an opaque dark brown, kind of like a cloudy Coke. Aroma is sweet toffee. Taste is toffee, butter, maybe some scotch, a little bitterness on the finish. Lots of carbonation that fades quickly, palate is a little like a thin syrup. Overall, I wasn’t a fan. I can’t account for the overall higher ratings of others.

C2H5OH (64) - Ontario, CANADA - JUL 9, 2011
Pours a semi-opaque and very cloudy dark brown with little to no head or lacing. Roasted malts immediately hit the nose, as well as semi-sweet chocolate, fresh apples, raisins, and caramel. Taste-wise, fresh apples and citrus come in first, followed by roasted malts, caramel, semi-sweet chocolate, and a hint of smoke, then becoming slightly sour as it fades away to a faint bitter coffee and dark chocolate. A very enjoyable brew.

DuffMan (6452) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 8, 2011
Bottle. Hazy, deep ruby brown, thin tan head with poor retention. Very nice bready malt Aroma, nuances of peat, smoke, and booze. Sweet dark malt flavour, bread crusts, caramel, rye, light smoke and spice. Light bitterness in the finish. Thinnish mouthfeel for the ABV. Not sure why this gets such low ratings, unless maybe the earlier recipe was shitty. I thought it was really quite nice.

Gethinbeer (2114) - Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAY 15, 2011
Dark brown to black appearance with a thin tan lace. Rich malt aroma with smoked hints. Rich flavour of malt with a artificial smoked feel. Rich syrup texture with a harsh finish.
