Bottle (50 cl), thanks gnoff. Dark reddish brown, medium beige head. Malty aroma with notes of fudge and chocolate, and some herbal hops. Medium bodied and smooth. Well balanced. This is a doppelbock in my book, and a very good such.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml bottle from Tres Bonne Cuisine. Drank at cellar temperature. Pours out a totally black color with a medium cream colored head. A very nice nose; sweet toasted malts, chocolates, sugars. A flavor that defines the Baltic Porter; sweet dry malts, chocolate, smooth, chalky, heavily roasted. Very nice. Smooth as velvet.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
500 ml bottle that brags about containing the "quintessence or the black beer flavour." It’s a rich beer, no doubt, though not impy stout rich. Chocolate malt and the usual dark beer stuff. Moderate roastiness to it, and perhaps a touch of smoke. What didn’t do it for me was the notes of anise, which admittedly isn’t unheard of for the style. So i think it’s a bit overrated.
