Yep, that’s it based on the bottle. 50cl in Krakow. Pretty nice. Almost sticky sweet but you could still tell the design/desire was a Baltic Porter.

Poured into an English pint glass. Color is jet black with a thick, frothy tan head. Aroma is chocolate, nuts, some alcohol and some smoke. Flavor starts off sweet with caramel and chocolate and finishes with a slight roasty bitterness and some alcohol. Palate is smooth with a medium body. Overall this is a very nice porter that is very sweet and has really nice chocolate notes.

Half liter bottle pours a perfect mahogany with thick mocha head. The aroma offers up blueberry, concord grape jam, a bit of roast, a bit of earthiness and then some chocolate. The taste is just down right yummy and it only seems to get better the more I consume. It starts with blueberry, and concord grape like in the nose and also heads into some malt roastiness, a nice level of earthiness and then some chocolate brownie. Wow! Love it. It finishes with a thin layer of chocolate blueberry nectar sweetness and lingering earthiness and malt roastiness. Damn and only $2.59 for a half liter bottle.

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Smells of cherries, roasted malt, spicy. Tastes of caramel, maraschino cherries, molasses, some honey.

Pours a dark brown with a medium off white head, the colour of brown sugar. Aromas of brown sugar with some burnt cocoa and coffee. The brown sugar is in the taste and gives it a sweetness throughout which seems to overcome a large bitterness from a large, very pronounced coffee flavour. Thick espresso like mouthfeel. Good, heavy porter all round but not my prefferred type of porter

16.9 oz bottle into English pint. Pours black with deep burgandy hues showing through when held up to the light. Has a medium light tan head that dissipates in a couple of minutes leaving a blanket of foam and some lace. Aroma is ripe black cherries, Whoppers, a hint of roasted coffee. Taste is bittesweet with a touch of sour. Has a milk chocolate taste. The coffee flavor is much more pronounced in flavor than aroma. Flavor is not as strong as the aroma. Carbonation and body are medium. Not bad ’tall.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2011 16.9oz bottle, and the first (new) beer of 2011. Pours very deep reddish brown, opaque in the glass, with a 3-finger frothy brown head. Aromas of toffee, caramel, brown sugar and sugar cane, hazelnut, and vanilla. Flavors of toffee, caramel, sugar cane, mocha/latte, and milk chocolate. Low carbonation, creamy and smooth, and warming; the alcohol is well-hidden. This was quite the tasty beer, and for $2.50/bottle, a great deal; I’ll be getting a few more of these.

Bottle, into a snifter. Deep black color, full but rather quickly dissipating coarse dark tan head. Wonderful, rich chocolate and raisins some smoke and roasted malts are on the nose. Flavors are similar, some dark brown sugar and a little wet wood as well. fairly sweet, even for a Baltic. Lively carbonation and a rather lighter body than others of the style. Lingering smokey slightly bitter trailer.

ALLOVATE (2436) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - DEC 22, 2010
Produces a deepest, darkest cola brown and oily, viscous yet reserving of a mochaccino whipped-up pad of tannish foam. Along the glass fine beads of carbonation move hesitantly to the surface. A trail of fine lace adheres itself in webs as it wanes. Deeply nutty, heavily roasted, and savoury rich fruit cake nose (raisins, prunes, demerara sugar, caramelised butter, the list goes on..) layered, upon layered with hints of salty kecap manis and nori, wafts of oaked sherry, damp, mossed wood, leather and molasses, firkin yum!!! Thick, treacly, syrupy body. So rich, so sweet, so bitter, so balanced from first cold sip to last warm one. Huge smoky, charred wood, burnt sugar and molasses presence just fills the mouth so well with a viscosity of thick silken fluid. Hints of rich chocolate mudcake, fresh kilned bitter cacao beans, peaty wood, ash, vanilla beans, cherry khoulis, kecap manis and heavily aged port join the volley of flavour pronouncing wicked vibes on my taste buds. The alcohol well masked, subdued but would be a welcome addition to it’s substantial complexity. Velvety, smooth and oh so long finish leaves the mouth reeling. Just lasts and lasts, I loved it. A pint bottle was way more than adequate this would suit being sold in nip glasses. A dessert beer for its sweetness, a winter beer for its complexity and a night cap beer for its impact, Grand!!! (50cL, no date stamp, bought back in 2008 from the Beer Store Morley)
