This was my first Baltic porter. Maybe I need to try more, but I couldn’t get into it. Was tough finish for me. Concentrated prune flavors, too gritty and sweet

Czarne z rubinowymi refleksami. Piana beżowa, drobna. Intensywne aromaty kawy, ciemnej czekolady, karmelu oraz chmielu. W smaku na początku bardzo kawowo, a z czasem wybija się gorzka czekolada. Goryczka słaba.

Creamy malt sandwich. Loads of caramelly maltose flavors with some fig-date dark fruit taste, grape like sweetness is a bit one-sided, aroma is vaguely grassy sweet fruit and yeast, Dark slightly clear red-brown. Very creamy brown tan cap. Sticky feel. Bottle found in Gdansk, Poland.

Bottle at first "Er klopt iemand op de deur" tasting aka EBT3. Thx to everyone for sharing today’s beers! APPEARANCE: clear brown beer, small unstable beige head. NOSE: malty, chocolate, coffee. TASTE: malty, little watery, coffee, oké but boring. Don’t put imperial porter on the label if you have this kind of taste. Was expecting a lot more...

500 ml. bottle sampled @ "Er Klopt Iemand Op De Deur" Samson & Gert Bierproeving I. Thanks to JorisPPattyn! Average creamy light brown head. Lightly cloudy brown. This being a Baltic porter explains my notes constantly referring to this being a dark lager. Thin lager metallic leather, soap, brown sugar, allspice, grainy chocolate, thin, grainy, mineral, iron lager finish, not very exciting & pretty weak esp. for something that says Grand Imperial Porter on the label.

A sugar bomb of a strong porter. Like dessert in a glass. A pint is way too much dessert for my taste. It would pair pretty well with chocolate cake or a mousse but on its own those sugars are overwhelming. Looks good: lush, pillowy head with a dark body. First sniff and I’m anticipating a sugar monster - very sweet. Dominated by molasses. Also marshmallows and some of those hard candy necklaces. First sip and it’s sweet alright. All I can taste is brown sugar. Bit of chocolate, spoonful of treacle, handful of raisins, faint alcoholic burn. No complexity, no subtlety - just liquid sugar. Lightly carbonated - under-done in my book. It’s not that it’s badly made, it’s just that it’s well-made in the sense that Coca-Cola or a Krispy Kreme doughnut is well made - if you can stomach either of those you’ll probably love this. (Pint bottle from Leura Cellars. BB 27/11/14)

Bottle, 0.50l, courtesy of ElDesmadre. Murky black color with medium frothy light brown head, poor lacing and sparkling appearance. Aroma of dried fruits, dandelion syrup, chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Taste starts with sweet and rich roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate, follows by fruity acidity, warming mouthfeel and moderate bitter finish.Full body, syrupy texture and average carbonation in palate. Hell of a strong brew; you can’t taste much alcohol, but you feel it quickly...

Bottled. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of caramel and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, alcohol, and malt, leading to a dry finish.
