500 mL bottle. Likely the best imperial porter I’ve tried. I didn’t realize that any level of depth was possible with this style. It looks like all of the others, and the nose smells like Boston brown bread, like many of the others. But there is something that I can only describe as a molasses booziness in the flavour that I find very appealing.

(bottle) pours a clear dark ruby colour with a frothy light brown head. aroma of dark fruit, starchy roasted malts, yeast and light sugar icing, slightly oxidized, with a hint of soy sauce and tobacco. flavour is mostly dark fruit and yeast, with a light hint of fudge, cooked vegetables and some alcohol in the light roasted-bitter finish. heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

500ml bottle (Małe Piwo, Warsaw) - Shared with SRPOL - thanks!
Soft sweet dark roast aroma. This is so much like Saku Porter from the olden days it’s not true. Absolutely classic Baltic porter. Lovely full roast, a bit sweet, and smooth in the palate. Not quite as much character as the previous two (Komes and Kormoran), but still great - really looks the part in particular.

Fucken love me some baltic porters. Pours a thinish looking dark brown with a tan head. Strong aromas of dark fruit, cocoa powder, ashtrays. Taste is dark fruit, cigarette butts, sweet tobacco. finishes pretty chalky and dry. Not bad at all.

Zbyt kawowe i zbyt ciężkie, jak dla mnie. Nie jest to zdecydowanie mój ulubiony porter.

Bottle at home. Has a black colour with a small light brown head. Sweet aroma of dark chocolate and leather. The flavour is sweet as well along with lactose, brownies and coffee. Slick mouth feel, and has a light bitterness. A sweet but good beer, almost like a dessert on its own.

Pours black with an off white head. My tulip is showing pretty much no lacing. The head quickly dissipates to a thin ring around the glass. The ring falls back down to the liquid with every sip. Nice molasses, dark fruit, and toffee pleasantly greet the nose. I also get notes of caramel and a little alcohol. Molasses and burnt malts dominate an abundantly sweet flavor. It gives way to a sweet raisin-licorice-molasses finish. Raisins, dark fruit, and sugar linger long on the palate. I’m not tasting any of the alcohol in the nose. It may be overwhelmed by all the sweetness. It does manage, however, to warm the throat- assuring its presence. This porter weighs heavy on the tongue, and is a little syrupy- but, not silky. it’s like heavy water- if that makes any sense. There is moderate carbonation to add some interest, I guess. Overall: eh. This is, by no means, a "good beer". It does have an interesting nose and flavor that lean on dark fruits and raisins- as opposed to the common chocolate and malts. Interesting? Yes. Good? No. Grand Imperial Porter stands out among porters. Unfortunately, other porters are better.
