A sugar bomb of a strong porter. Like dessert in a glass. A pint is way too much dessert for my taste. It would pair pretty well with chocolate cake or a mousse but on its own those sugars are overwhelming. Looks good: lush, pillowy head with a dark body. First sniff and I’m anticipating a sugar monster - very sweet. Dominated by molasses. Also marshmallows and some of those hard candy necklaces. First sip and it’s sweet alright. All I can taste is brown sugar. Bit of chocolate, spoonful of treacle, handful of raisins, faint alcoholic burn. No complexity, no subtlety - just liquid sugar. Lightly carbonated - under-done in my book. It’s not that it’s badly made, it’s just that it’s well-made in the sense that Coca-Cola or a Krispy Kreme doughnut is well made - if you can stomach either of those you’ll probably love this. Bottle best by March 2016. Pours clear dark brown with a lasting mocha head. Aroma is chocolate chews (tootsie rolls), soy sauce, black patent char, burnt caramel malt. Medium bodied, sweet with moderate acidity and medium-low bitterness. Cheap chocolate-caramel candy maltiness with a dirty acidity and syrupy-sugary malt texture. Very inauthentic malt character.

Very drinkable porter with enough sweetness in background, but still with cocoa and light roasted qualities in front. Flavor remains enjoyable after an our- sign of quality. Easy drinkable due to medium body, 8.0% well hidden. Light beige colour of foam. Properly brewed one.

Wysycenie niskie Kolor ciemny z kasztanowymi przebłyskami. Piana b. słaba, niekoronkuje

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2015 Double rating. Bottle, best before 25.04.2016. Pours deep black colour with a medium sized, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, dried fruits, some cherry - pleasant, moderate. The taste follows the above, the beer is smooth and creamy with just a delicate alcoholic note in the backgroud. I tried the beer a couple of times and I must admit that now Grand Imperial Porter is in a really good shape. Aroma 8/10 Appearance 5/5 Taste 9/10 Palate 5/5 Overall 18/20. This goes for the bottle that spent almost two years in my cellar before it was opened. The beer changed almost completely. Surmounted by a huge, tan head, the beer had a very complex and intensive aroma of belgian chocolate, loats of dried plum notes, sweet coffee, cherries dipped in alcohol. Very rich in the taste with a wide arrange of dried stuff and a strong liquor character. Very low carbonation and strong bouquet make the beer an ideal choice for long, autumn evenings.

6 month after best before date. Dark brown colour, medium beige head and some lacing. Moderate aroma of dark dried fruits, some liquor note. Quite sweet at nose. Taste is heavy sweet, slightly bitter with sweet, chocolate finish. Soft carbonation. Medium to full body. Average baltic porter, really sweet and sticky.
