2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
A sugar bomb of a strong porter. Like dessert in a glass. A pint is way too much dessert for my taste. It would pair pretty well with chocolate cake or a mousse but on its own those sugars are overwhelming. Looks good: lush, pillowy head with a dark body. First sniff and I’m anticipating a sugar monster - very sweet. Dominated by molasses. Also marshmallows and some of those hard candy necklaces. First sip and it’s sweet alright. All I can taste is brown sugar. Bit of chocolate, spoonful of treacle, handful of raisins, faint alcoholic burn. No complexity, no subtlety - just liquid sugar. Lightly carbonated - under-done in my book. It’s not that it’s badly made, it’s just that it’s well-made in the sense that Coca-Cola or a Krispy Kreme doughnut is well made - if you can stomach either of those you’ll probably love this. (Pint bottle from Leura Cellars. BB 27/11/14)

Musta, reunoille hiipyvä vaahto. Makean leipäisä. Samettisen pehmeä. Ihan ok tähän humalaan. Alkoholia perään.

Some Polish deli in Ridgewood: Pours dark ruby brown with a beige head. Aroma is molasses and dark fruit. Taste is rather sweet with very little in the way of hoppiness. Thick and sticky body. Nice aftertaste.

The beer looks like all beautiful porters. It is pitch black on the eye but it is dark ruby red when seen with a lift behind it. The bulk of the foam disappears immediately by a thin dark al one colored layer of foam remains on top of the foam. The smell is good. I smell roasted barley. There is a sweet and bitter licorice aroma. The smell is real good for a porter. There is also a nice chocolate smell. The taste is good to. The licorice taste is not that strong, luckily. Here is a dark roast taste as well. I also taste some chocolate. The beer is great, just my cup of tea.

Quite interesting. Tastes like good kvass, but in other hand - decent ABV - 8%. Very roasty, nice amount of malts. Perfect summer refreshing beer. Price/performance=god!
