500ml from Bestillingsutvalget, Vinmonopolet. Lots of small dimples to a frothy and fawn coloured head, displaying a solid stand. Deeply, near-black in the glass with a brownish shade if held to the light. Aroma of dark malts, containing coffee and anise. Fine blended flavour of dark chocolate and earthy malts with an integrated backdrop of dark fruits. Subdued sweetness and alcohol. Gets a bit grainy after an hour in the glass, otherwise well rounded to the palate and pleasant to drink (Tromsř, 10.04.2010).

"Interesting brew. Cola, chocolate, coffee, light roast, tobacco, dark frut and yeast. Unique and distinct. Low hopping. Very obviously not American. I really dug it as an off beat warming porter. Would make a fantastic cigar beer."

Bottle. Near black with red tints and a beige head. Aromas are earthy with molasses with nutty cola. Blackberries with vegetable fat and oily notes. Coffee with herbal liquorice and brown sugar. Flavours are sweet cola and molasses with liquorice sweets. Peppery alcohol with blackberries and hints of cherry. Burnt toffee with earthy coffee and a boozy finish. Some lightly smoky maple syrup. Small, but persistent dark beige head over black beer with red highlights. Rich nose, not sweet, but mild coffee, roasted and pine needles, slightly smoked. Sweet, coffee-filled chocolate bar, melted; even a bit praliné. Medium to well-bodied, quite slick, alcoholwarming if discreet. Good porter - the real Baltic Imperial! An excellent initiative of Bractwo Piwne!

Pour out of 500 mL bottle, thick oily black with nice lacing tan head. Very delicious looking in the glass. Aroma has big notes of dark fruit, with figs, dark raisins, and some plums. Chocolate, vanilla and molasses also compliment. Taste is roasted, with sweet molasses, toffee, big fig and plum notes, some dark raisin, chocolate and vanilla sweetness intermingle, finishing a bit sweet, too fizzy on the palate. Overall lots of good things about this, and for so cheap its a gem.
