500. pours jet black with a massive, surging, dense, creamy tan head. thick sheets of lace. chocolate, brown sugar, tawny port, and co2 on the nose. creamy medium body, seems a little undercarbonated, even for such a big beast. nice and thick and silky though. port, chocolate, and carbon dioxide on the mid palate. longish mildly sweet finish. a little imbalanced to the sweet side, but still drinkable. great body, but some variety to the specialty malts and some more carbonation would bring this into fine shape.

Very dark earthy brown, medium bodied, creamy tan head. Milk chocolate and some toasty grain. Creamy, more toast, some chocolate creaminess. Kind of stops there, little light in body and slick.

bottle poured a dark brown bordering on black with a fizzy two finger tan head. aroma has roasted malt, sweetness, chocolate, and a mix of fruits. mouth feel is medium but coats well with lighter carbonation. flavor picks up on the roast, light bitters, coffee, chocolate, an interesting fruit mix, and has lots of sweetness right through.

500 ml bottle as Amber Esencja Czarnego Piwa. Dark brown body with a fine tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate and dry fruit. Flavor is sweet malty, mild roasted, chocolate and fruity with low bitterness. Quite nice and actually somehow balanced, even this sweet and not much bitter. The chocolate sweetness balances the roasted malt and plays along with the dry fruit like a nice dessert. Nothing extraordinary but a pleasant, sweet Baltic porter.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2013 This pours a lovely pint with its molasses dark brown body and thick chocolate cream top. The high-pitched malts one expects of a Baltic Porter emanate from the glass. Nuances of caramunich, caramel, melanoidin along with inferences of chocolate. Sweet, smoky caramel body with melandoin around the edges. Caramel popcorn quality in nose and flavor. Rerate: 11/26/13. Nothing has changed since the initial review. This is just a well-executed, nuanced, and fairly complex Baltic Porter that is perfect for the late fall and winter seasons.
