bhensonb (2670), Woodland, California, USA May 6, 2008 Bottle from Corti Bros. in Sacramento, CA. Smells like grainy malt with noble hop. Bright copper color with a white head that never arrived. Medium body with coarse, creamy carbonation. Flavor is very different. Sort of a mild caramel pale malt mixture. Little hot spicy points and grassy herby hop. Finishes lightly peppery. Interesting take on a pilsner. Could be a different take on a summer ale. Definitely not a drain pour.
Angeloregon (1464), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 3, 2008 Bottle from By The Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a clear straw golden body with a fluffy white head. Nose of sweet cereal grains and corn. Sweet, mildly metallic flavor that died into a sugary bomb. Some nice qualities such as mouthfeel, but the overall impression was another crappy Polish adjunct beer. DA (2243), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Jun 5, 2008 Grassy nose, with a bit of a caramel apple sweetness under it. Bitter on the first sip, hops are pretty sharp and almost give a metallic note, but it softens a bit as my palate got used to it. Turned into a nice pils, crisp and clean. DYCSoccer17 (1981), Davis, California, USA Jun 3, 2008 500 mL bottle purchased at the Pole Line Nugget in Davis, CA. Aroma is pretty sweet, fruity, with a touch of yeast esters. A little biscuity malt aroma, but not much hop aroma. Light grassiness, I suppose. Pours a pretty solid, viscous golden color with a medium white head. Some nice bubbly lacing. Pretty attractive. Starts metallic and grassy with a little astringency. Some doughiness is present in the middle. Finishes a bit sweet and kind of bland. They say this is a pils beer, but I don’t taste the crisp hops that I would expect from a pils. This is malty and not overly offensive, but it doesn’t get the job done. frankenkitty (1788), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Sep 16, 2005 Lightly hazed golden with a foamy, lasting white head that laced. Some diacetyl in the aroma which is otherwise grain sacks in the basement. Peppery notes as well. There are no adjuncts defiling the flavor which is crisp, grassy/herbal hops positioned atop solid, earthen malts. Finishes clean and light, yet satisfying.
