Fra cask på Euston Tap 19 Mai 11. Svart. Lavt kremaktig skum. Behagelig kaffearoma. Smaken litt tynn men en aner kaffe, lakris og sjokolade. Tørr, røstet malt i ettersmaken.

Cask@Euston Tap, London. More or less black colour with a small beigeish brown head, that settles quite quickly. Aroma is chocolate, some nutty notes, mild roasted malts as well as some slight liquorice and also mild floral and wooden notes. Flavour is chocolate, roasted malts, some toffee, nutty notes as well as some bitter hoppyness lurking in the background. Pleasantly balanced.

Cask @ Euston Tap, Euston NW1. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma. Roasted malty caramel and chocoalte flavor with weak hints of licorice. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish.

Cask conditioned at The Talbot (Amber Ales Brewery Tap), Ripley, Derby’s. Black with tan head. Full of deep roaste malty notes giving a bitterness and drying effect but still remaining relatively smooth. Nicely set up and pretty enjoyable.

Cask, air pressure, half pint at Euston Tap. Tan-coloured, low head that lasted for a while. Black coloured body with a deep, brownish shade. Smell of sweet dark malts with an espresso-like tint. Earthy malts, coffee and chocolate in flavour offset by bitter malts towards the ending. Easy to drink and easy to like (London, 31.07.2011).

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2011 Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours black with a small, tan head. Rich chocolate, roasted malt aroma. Light to medium sweet flavor, dry roast cocoa, ash, burnt wood, earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Dry, heavy roast finish, ashy earth, mild mocha. Great beer.

(Cask at Euston Tap, Euston, London, 19 May 2011) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, cocoa and dark bread. Roasted, malty taste with chocolate, cocoa, tobacco and a gentle cocoa bitterness in the finish. Rather light body, dry. Exceptionally well balanced, and the low abv makes it highly drinkable. Very nice one.

Bottle. Black and poured with a very small head.Virtually no carbonation with a port like flavour dominating.Chocolate and a pleasant dryness are also present. Complex and pleasing. A definite winner.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Ealing Beer Festival, July 2009. Certainly black. Lots of roast malt. Dry and dusty. Easy drinkng. OK. Struggled to compete with the De Molen Mout & Mocha sampled immediately before. Marked for re-rate.
