Cask (gravity dispense) as Winter Ruby Fireside Ale. Beer #9 at Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival on 3 February 2011. Definitely ruby in colour with no head. Condition didn’t seem too lively. Sweetish. Quite fruity on the palate. Otherwise, respectable but not a whole lot happening. Judging from other comments it may not have been at its best on this occasion. Flagged for re-rate.

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2010 Cask conditioned at The Lion Hotel, Belper, 17-01-08 An intriguiging chestnut coloured beer that showed a slight haze when poured, this promised quite a lot but ultimately didn’t really deliver. There was an element of spice in there with the biscuit flavours, but if truth be told I found this to be just a little bit rough around the edges. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov13 3.1 Had this again on Cask, handpump at The Guildford, Edinburgh in company of Craig, Rob (his girlfriend, sorry forgot name) & Loz 29.10.10 Pours reddy colour ok so i’ll go for ruby as the name suggests. I get pastry in the mouth, sweet malt and a touch of star anise, well definately spicy! Some toffee and biscuit, lovely and much better than last time hence the re-rate. A7 A5 T7 P4 Ov15 3.8
