COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bub’s is a wonderful Ale. We use four types of Malt, a tiny bit of wheat in the mash (for better head retention) and four types of Hops at three different points in the boils and we dry hop. It is the dry hops that give Bub’s its "extra nose". Made with the same water that runs through the waterfall...

"The color of the beer matches the color of the bottle almost perfectly. Aroma is unpleasant when you stop and think about what your smelling, sweat, honey, bread, some hop all combine to form this non offensive but unpleasant aroma. Sweet bready taste with a mild bitter finish. There is a hop bit in the flavour but it seems fake I can’t explain how though. The more I drink the more an out of place medicine flavour appears. Once again this is one of those disappointing beers if you break it down and think about it, but you could easily slam, back a case and not be offended. "

341mL bottle poured a deep golden color with small white head and little to no lacing. Aromas of malts and hops. Taste is lightly sweet with some moderate hops in the finish. Overall, slightly below average pale ale.

It’s not the most interesting style, granted. But judged against its own class it still falls short. Pours fairly deep amber. Aromas - mostly sweet malts - some complexity giving it some interest. Generally too sweet/malt-heavy for me.

Smells like golden grams, only less intense. This had no head as the bottle was filled too full. It tastes like water hat jas toched gOlden grams and had some hops added. Its pretty light and watery, the sort of thing you could have 3 of at lunch and stay for four more. Its too light, really.

Pours clear amber. with no head,. Smells like golden grams cereal. thin over sweet and unbalanced. notes of toffee and candy. malty with some nice hops . but the palate is all over the map and every flavour you encounter is very watered down. Interesting but pretty weak.

Bub’s Lunch Pail Ale pours a clear golden orange with absolutely no head to speak of. There was so little head I thought I poured it poorly and held off posting this review until I could drink another and try for a better picture. No luck - this beer is just devoid of head. I am not sure if I have got a bad batch because other reviewers claim a creamy white head developed. Who knows? The aroma is somewhat resinous and fruity with some citrus notes. You can smell the malts which are giving a bit of a caramel feel to the aroma. There is something a little unpleasant in the aroma although I wouldn’t call it offensive. I can’t identify what it is. The taste is of medium malts with a slight toasted bread taste. There is also nutty, fruity, and hoppy characteristics. The body was thin and the carbonation and mouthfeel were flat. It finished with a short lived bitterness that I found one of the standout positive characteristics of the beer. In closing, I am glad I tried this beer and I have no issues with finishing the six pack but I don’t think I would search this out again. If it was between this and macro swill you better believe I would have no issues drinking this. This is just not a comparison a brewer should be shooting for.

Poured a honey brown colour with low head. Lots of nose fruits....raisins, cranberries, tangerine and watermelon. When I give this one a swirl, something pungent and feces like comes out in the nose. Too bad because all the delicious fruits make it so inviting. This one must be slightly skunky because it is mostly sour through the front of hte palate. The back of the palate shows some nice vanilla and the finish is loaded with toffee. This palate.

Clear, golden pour with a white head, that dissipates rather slowly. Aroma is light malts, orange and lemon, hazelnut/almond. Taste is hint of toffee, and quite nutty and sweet. Moderately hopped, but not strong in the flavour, and very pleasant on the finish. Smooth, crisp and refreshing. $11.99/6 @ Liquor Depot Mayfield Common

Poured out a nice clear amber with a light white cap that goes to a ring and leaves small ammounts of spotty lacing. The aroma is light but refreshing with a good blend of pungent citrus and mild malts that are weakly toasted, caramel, nutty (almond) and sweet. The taste is also mild but quite appealing. Toasted malts, slightly nutty, caramel. The hops are obvious but the flavour is not. it is well blended in to give a mix between orange, apricot and other citrus. Smooth mouth feel with lots of carbonation, finishes dry with a bready malt and short lived bitter aftertaste. I’ve just found myself a new beer for the rotation. Local folks, buy up and support local brewing. This is an easy drinking tasty brew.

341ml brown bottle. Golden with an average sized creamy white head. Aroma is fruity, some citrus elements. Fruity malt taste as well, mild finishing hops. Some mild citrus and grassy aftertastes. Light body, average carbonation. Drinkable but rather uneventful golden ale.
