3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, Drongens Plezierke.
Vinous raisin and plum aroma. Light chocolate and wood. Hazy red, creamy off-white layer. Dry minerally yeast edges, raisins, wood, orangepeel notes. Dry mouthfeel, sparkly, medium body. Light caramel aftertaste.
Well balanced and tasty and surprisingly fresh for a Dubbel.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Deep brown, red glow, large tanned head.
Aroma of red fruits, wine, caramel, some yeast and faint citrus, seems rich.
Flavour is way thinner than expected, some fruity sweetness, some dry bitterness, but overall simply lacking flavour.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Dranken Geers, upon recommendation of Duff (about 2 years old with a best before ’09).
Poured reddish brown with a thin beige head. Displayed some obvious signs of age but retained many of the aforementioned qualities I see below. Dark malts, slightly bready, some caramel/candi sugar sweetness and a hint of fruit. Had developed quite a strong brett character which was lovely, in fact it was like an Orval dubbel, although a tiny bit thin on the palate. I expected it to be ruined after sitting in my flat for two years but it was still really nice.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
33cl bottle from Dranken Geers. Brownish red clear, thick beige head. It’s a decent dubbel with some lovely brown malts and some very good hops actually. Little bit of fruit too. Very good malts though.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at home. Pours a hazy dark reddish brown with a very thick, lasting, foamy and creamy off-white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma of fruits, alcohol, slightly sour, some bready yeast and wine. Flavor is sweet and sour, quite fruity with alcohol, some sugar, hazelnut and wine. Watery texture with lively carbonation.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: AUG 13, 2010 Bottle at home. Amber-brown colour, a bit darker as "palm". Aroma’s of dark fruits, sourness, bread, and something unpleasant, a bit like metal.Light beige head, very big, holds ok. Looks good for me. The taste is better then the smell. A bit sweet, soft dark fruits. Not to bitter aftertaste. Misses maybe some character, something extra, but not bad at all. Drinks very smooth.
Edit: Also tasted as "drongens plezierke" : Hops and cola at the aroma it seems. The unpleasant metallic smell is not present here. Beer is a bit watery.
