Bottle from Dranken Geers, upon recommendation of Duff (about 2 years old with a best before ’09).
Poured reddish brown with a thin beige head. Displayed some obvious signs of age but retained many of the aforementioned qualities I see below. Dark malts, slightly bready, some caramel/candi sugar sweetness and a hint of fruit. Had developed quite a strong brett character which was lovely, in fact it was like an Orval dubbel, although a tiny bit thin on the palate. I expected it to be ruined after sitting in my flat for two years but it was still really nice.

Alengrin (2742) - BELGIUM - JAN 5, 2015
One of those old school Slaghmuylder beers, not sure if this is still made, rated from old notes. A dark chestnut brown beer with pale beige, moussy head and malty character with some dried fruits, walnuts and biscuit in the nose; malty and restrained fruity taste, sweetish with a hint of candi sugar as well as a certain sourishness, dryish finish with herbal hops and a touch of warming alcohol. Very decent.

Excalibur123 (230) - Soria, SPAIN - JUN 10, 2014

Leichte Schokoladennoten, etwas brotig. Trockener Abgang. 9/9/8/9/8/9
