diabel (1211), Aarschot, Belgium Jul 31, 2006 On tap at the brew pub. Creamy, slightly off-white head with an excellent lace. The heads diminishes mostly. Hazy, amber body. Very complex aroma of smoke, citrus, burnt malts, molasses, mild coffee. Everytime I smelled this one, I perceived other aromas. Lightly sweet, moderately bitter initial flavour. Ligtly sweet, lightly bitter finish. Lightly bodied and a soft carbonation. In contrast of the other raters, I do like this beer very much. Did they change they recipes lately? Because it’s weird that I like this so much, but the others do not at all. rauchbier (2875), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Aug 9, 2004 Tap, at the Brewpub, July 2004. Jet black, good lasting coffee coloured head and fine condition. Gentle sweet fruity malt in the nose with hints of raisins and roast barley, similar in the mouth but with the roastiness more apparent and lingering into the slightly sweetening finish along with a gentle yeastiness.

Pours almost black with off-white head.
Taste is nutty, roasted and malty, with light notes of chocolate. Found it to be fizzy.
Enjoyed the beer with the good farmer’s plate. TBone (5157), Pori, Finland Jul 27, 2007 Draught@brewpub
Dark nut brown color, small steady creamy beige head. Nose has toasted malts, tobacco and notes of dark chocolate. Sharp, slightly acidic mouthfeel. Dry, ashy, toasted malts. Not really my favourite dunkel but this one is brewed perfectly to fit dunkel-style - as such earns some extra merit. goozen (785), Leiden, Netherlands Jul 14, 2007 Tap at the Brauhaus, Bamberg 0,5ltr: Dark Dunkel from this newcomer, the taste almost like an Newcastle Brown Ale.
