8/10/11/11//10

Draught @ Ambräusianum, Dominikanerstrasse 10, 96052 Bamberg, Germany.
Unclear hazy grey amber color with a small to average frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, spicy, light roasted and caramel, wine gum, light fruity - citrus. Flavor is light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, spicy. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20091219]

rauchbier (3593) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - FEB 22, 2007
Tap, at the brewpub, December 2005. Hazy chestnut brown, moderate fluffy beige head and gentle condition. Gentle sweet raisin fruitiness in the nose, sweet and full bodied in the mouth with fruity malt and yeast and an estery note that becomes almost banana with time, lingering sweet yeasty finish with hints of fruit, malt and a background chalkiness. Obviously a touch variable.

Tap in brewpub, small glass. Dark brown color, very cloudy. Orange and yeast in the aroma, mint. Not a sign of alcohol. Medium bodied, malty. I was not impressed and didn’t finish my glass.

On tap at the Ambräusianum: Reddish to deep amber coloured; odd fruity (strawberries !) and slightly malty nose; very fruity taste, quite full bodied and quite sweet; sticky, sweet finish. A real weak beer by Bamberg’s standards...............
