COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mashed with special yeast, in accordance with the method of the bottom fermentation. That is what gives it its smoothness and its incomparable flavour. Its natural colour comes from a mixture of carefully roasted malts.

25cl bottle at Kasteelhof in Cassel. The label said it was brewed at Roman in Oudenaarde, Belgium. Straight amber ale, a bit sugared. a bit caramelled and with somewhat smoothed edges. Filtered. Not convinced it will have been a biere de garde as such.

75cl cork and caged brown bottle, drank during one of my French beer evenings in October 2007. Poured into my Hoegaarden Grand Cru glass and two Palm glasses, all in one pour. Clear amber colour with a thin white head. The aroma was all about caramel, toffee and roasted malts, very impressive. The flavours imparted in the taste mainly revolved around a toffee base, vry moorish. Although everything I have said about this beer is toffeeish, it isn’t a sweet tasting beer, nor is it overly thick in the mouthfeel, just a normal body to it. This is a well made beer, Northern France has some good beers and this is one of the better ones I’ve tried.

Bottle 75cl, a clear amber beer with good head and lacing. Nose is on burnt caramel. Aroma is a bit vinous with a medium sweet body, malt hints with caramel and burnt caramel notes, dry finish, not exceptional.

0.75l bottle. Clear amber-golden colour, large, rocky off-white head. Fruity nose. Rather loight-bodied, shy malty background, shy fruity flavours, hints of caramel and barnyard. Ok, but very mild indeed.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of KimJohansen. Clear, deep golden with a dense off-white head. Sweetish aroma with some fruitiness and phenols. Medium body, sweetish malt and fruit and a vague fustiness. No bitterness really. 291208
