0.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 27, 2009
Brewed under license by the Phu Yen Beverage Company in Vietnam. Skillfully hunted in Nha Trang. Lovely pale straw colour with no head. When I poured it, it smelled like apple juice but that blew off to reveal grains, maybe some sourness, and mustiness of a non-happy, non-lambic type. Taste of mineral water mixed with post-teethbrushing apple juice. Finishes sticky and with paint-like, gluey notes. Yum.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - JUL 29, 2004
Clear, yellow watery color, high carbonation. The aroma is like a sewer treatment plant next to a corn field that’s on fire. Flavor is sulfuric with some chemical factory malts, finishes dry, average, corny. Thanks Brian!
1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 Ernest (5182) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 10, 2002
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light yellow, moderate density of small particles. Trace aroma of hops (herbs) and malt (grain). Flavor is lightly sweet. Finish is very light bitterness. Light body, watery texture, lively carbonation. This one is just bland rather than offensive, and the particulate-laden body and frothy head make it look quite normal.
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Beershine (4704) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - NOV 27, 2009
Can, brewed in Vietnam. Pours a pale ugly yellow with scant fizzy head that dissipates fast. Smells like building materials, cement, tiles, and particle board with a mild unripe pear gloss on top. Medium level of carbonation. Not too gassy, not too sticky. The flavors are bland but has some fruity character and the pretense of hops. The aftertaste is unfortunately acrid. It wants to be a pils but fails.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 riversideAK (4553) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - DEC 31, 2008
Golden yellow, fizzy with a short lived head. Light adjunct sweetness, no hops, some chemicals all in the flavors and aroma. Hey, its an american lager... go figure. I guess it would taste nice in the sun...
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 thedm (4124) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - DEC 26, 2005
This canned brew poured a medium sized head of foamy fine to large sized of unnoted length white colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body contained soft carbonation, was transparent and orange in color. Its aroma contained notes of malty and was a bit skunky. Its mouth feel is initially tingly hop malt with a lingering tingly palate and a aftertaste. Its flavor contained mild malt hop swill notes. Not one I would buy again.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 BrewDad (3657) - Olympia, Washington, USA - DEC 12, 2008
12oz Can – 99 Bottles - Federal Way, WA – Just a plan ole American ale good going down fast and good for those hot days. Sure it is not a Impy Stout with huge flavor. This had malt little hops and was what it does best wet and dry.
1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 ClarkVV (3578) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - JUL 13, 2005
2005 can from Julio’s, consumed on 7/1/2005. Hmmm, this one seems about as yellow as IC Beer, though this one lacked any rapidly rising bubbles. More still and watery looking if that makes any sense. No head, no lacing, no anything. Clear. The nose did not have any soft fruit or light malts. Really just a mess of corn and powdered sugar. Unfortunately, you can’t even write this off as a bland, clean example. I note metal in the nose, which then carries through to the flavor. Huge amounts of water is what I mostly get, followed by metal and corn. Extremely sharp, biting, noxious carbonation creates a very unwanted mouthfeel. Light/extra-light bodied. Extremely quick lagering times do not good beers make.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 deyholla (3522) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 6, 2010
Can. Poured a pale clear gold with a quickly dissipating white soda like head. Aroma flavor was full of adjuncts with a bit of a grain note. Flavor was similar with plenty of adjunct (corn) and a bit of grass and hay.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 hotstuff (3249) - Indiana, USA - NOV 24, 2004
Can. Medium sized white smooth head with sparse lacing, transparent, carbonated, and a yellow hue. Malty and corn aroma. Blah, uninteresting, malty, and corn flavor. Tingly mouthfeel.
