4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours hazy light amber with a foamy 3 finger off-white head. Lots of hop aroma - starts like pine but goes citrus. Med body. Thereís lots of hop over a nice caramel backbone. But the hop seems primarily resinous. Then at the finish itís grapefruit rind. Passing challenging. Really good, really hoppy.

22oz bottle. Iíve had this when it first came out, but havenít had it since the recipe fell under American Brewing. Pours a hazed light copper gold with a smaller tight slightly off white head that leaves some lacing. Bready malt forward with hints of resinous pine infused orange marmalade. More balanced in the malt profile on the palate, with the hops having light citrus in the front to mid but remaining bitter throughout and finishing with a lingering bitter resin. A little bit of chewiness in the body as well. This taste much better in the bottle than previous draft samples I have had.

22 oz. from Bottleworks. Iím surprised to see such a low score. This is a damn fine IPA with a lot of character. Maybe folks are burnt out on the citrus hops? The malts give the beer a backbone that would have left it rather hollow otherwise. And Iím a sucker for both Amarillo and Simcoe. Looking forward to future brews from ABC.

Bottle:   Hazy amber, large frothy white head, nice lacing.   Musty hop nose, some citrus peel.   Somewhat piney on the tongue.   Bitter but not biting.   Nice smooth body, decent malt backing.   Seems like a classic/solid IPA to me.   Lingering hop resins, flavorful and thankfully not too harsh to make me over salivate.   Solid offering!

Amber in color, clear with a thin head. Super hops aroma and flavor. Floral with a slight fruity flavor. Interesting sweet malt biscuit flavor this added to the beer with the slight banana and grapefruit finish.

Draft at the Bayou Oyster Bar in Bellingham, WA. Nice looking pillowy head, cloudy copper body. Hoppy, sweet aroma. Big citrusy hops dominate, with some peppery aftertaste. Great with some fresh, salty PNW oysters.

Wow, caramel malts. Nice. Sweet caramel sugary nose with tangerines and oranges. The hops work well with the caramel, but too much residual sugar in the nose for me to enjoy fully. Pours hazy orange amber, head lasts for a little while then dissipates. The flavor starts sweet with caramel malts, sugars followed by candied citrus - oranges and tangerines mainly. Nice hop flavor, malt bill doesnt do it for me. Mouth feel is a little slick and sweet. Wanted to like it more.

Pours deep copper to almost red with white head. Nice lacing on a light pour out of the growler. Nice aromas of citrus and light pine. Flavor is a nice maltiness that ommediately releases to a big hop profile. Well balanced with the malt but nicely bitter. I heared approximately 80 plus ibus. Nice beer from a new brewery!

On tap @ Collins Pub, Seattle. Clear, dark gold pour. Minimal head and lace. Toasty malt balanced with resinous and grapefruit hops. Some orange in the middling body, but not overly complex. A standard PNW IPA.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2010 Draft at Brouwerís. Orange amber pour with an off-white head. Aroma is dank grass and earth. The malt body is a little bready and toasty and serves as a good base for the hoppy flavor and aromatics. This is one of the most herby tasting IPAs Iíve had, lots of hemp, grass, and earth in this, a bit of a woody taste as it finishes. Has a long, lightly bitter finish. I personally enjoyed this a lot due to how distinctly leafy it is compared to a lot of West coast IPAs Iíve partaken of.
