Breakaway IPA is made with Vienna and Munich malts to give this beer its malty flavor blended with a generous amount of Amarillo and Simcoe hops, which give this beer its signature citrusy character. The starting gravity is about 15 degrees plato (S.G. 1068), which means that the alcohol by volume is about 7%.

Hazy light amber color. Unpleasant aroma, paper and puke. Average flavor of malt and caramel, with strong bitterness but no fresh qualities.
Below expectations.

Bottle, 22oz. A hazy, dark amber colored beer topped by a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma escaping the bottle immediately after opening it was wonderwul, tropical fruits and pine cones in abundance. When poured into the glass, itís still nice, but the maltyness is a bit too evident I think. Some caramel and bready notes. In the flavor the bitterness is king, but the caramel, bready malts do what they can to smoothen it out. Pine cones, some pineapple and a grassy touch too. Full body, pleasant carbonation. Lasting finish with citrus peel, canned pineapples syrup and bitterness. Fortunately not as malty as the initial flavor. Certainly a beer I could drink more of, even though I prefer my IPAís less malty. 130630

Amber, a little chewy, earthy hop, quite a bit chewy, lots of crystal. So un-Seattle. The hops end up being quite muted and you end up with an oversized amber, which to me doesnít really work.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours hazy light amber with a foamy 3 finger off-white head. Lots of hop aroma - starts like pine but goes citrus. Med body. Thereís lots of hop over a nice caramel backbone. But the hop seems primarily resinous. Then at the finish itís grapefruit rind. Passing challenging. Really good, really hoppy.

Bomber poured a clear tarnished copper with a lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness, pine, skunk bud, grapefruit and light orange zest. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness, pine and grapefruit with a smoth dry lingering bitter finish.

Small rim of foam; slightly veiled amber-orange beer. Fruity, very hoppy, but also catsí pee/valerian. Citrus, passion fruit, Passo„. Hopoils, bit of caramel/cake bottom. Long bitter finish. Quite slick, medium bodied, long hoppy lingering aftertaste. Average (meaning pretty good) IPA.
