Bottle:   Deep brown, cola hues, thin to moderate foamy beige head, spotty lacing.   Dark chocolate, roasted malt, a touch of soy, and carob on the nose.   Sweet on the tongue, malty, a little roasty, over ripened fruit like sweetness towards the back.   Some minor coffee and carob notes.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, albeit it does seem to stick to the tongue fairly well.   Has a fine lactic sourness on the back that I could do without.   I do see that time to time for this style, so its not that uncommon.   Minor appleskin on the finish, amongst the roast, carob, coffee, and minor lactic sourness.   Fairly decent overall.   Wished it were a bit sweeter tho.

Roast, dark fruit, and earth on the nose. Pours dark brown more or less black with a thin tan head. Flavors of dark roast dark fruit residual fruity earthy light bitterness. Light dark fruity tang finish with a little cleaner finish than an imperial porter. Light alcohol. Interesting.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours dark brown/black with ruddy glints and a slight tan head. Aromas of dark fruit, burnt malt, and maybe coffee. Full bodied or close enough. It’s slightly salty, has pretty dark fruit, burnt malt, and perhaps a hint of coffee. It’s not on the dry side in the finish, but it’s not all that sticky sweet either. There’s a nice almost bitter tang in the finish. Arguably well within style.
