Pours with a fresh and roasty nose; very inviting. Inky black. Rich, chewy and milkshake-like on the tongue. Heavy sweetness is worty with a solid underlying roastiness. Lesser notes of coffee, dark toast, dark chocolate and black licorice. Grassy-earthy hop bitterness was decent, but it struggled a little beneath the beer’s big sweetness. Overall, it’s a very tasty beer; just a little too sweet and dessert-like for me.

Opaque brown-black with a small light brown head. Roasty and char malt aroma with high medicinal notes. Roast malt flavor dominates, with some earthen tones and a muted chalky chocolate. Lingering roasty bitterness in the finish with returning ashen component. Medium mouthfeel with some oat silkiness.

Bomber thanks to Brewdad. Pours a beauty; jet black with a medium dark brown head with orange tints. The aroma is chocolate light roast and coffee. The flavor is a smooth stout; coffee, light milkiness, sweet vanilla, grains, a bit of hefty flavors, very smooth overall, light mineral roast. Quite good.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 curly (2352) - Seattle (Newcastle), Washington, USA - JAN 3, 2012
Black with a frothy brown head. Aroma of oats, dark chocolate, light hazelnut. Taste is nice and roasty, not too bitter or sweet but a good balance overall. The body is a little on the thin side with slightly high carbonation. Still a pretty well made brew overall.

Smokey aroma from the bottle. Pours black with nice tan head. Some legs, but dissipates to a thin halo in about 1 minute. This one lets NO light through. Aroma of sweet malts, herbs, and dark fruit from the glass. Very smokey malted flavor with only a slight hint of bittering hops. Carmelized brown sugar, coffee...The mouth feel is wicked nice, thick and a bit oily. Slight tartness on the finish, lingering sweet, smokey, and salty flavor. A little less oatmeal and more towards a sweet smoked stout. But then again, when I think of an American Stout, this is what I envision. As it warms up, the oatmeal seems to come more into play. Very enjoyable! Tasted @ 51F.
