A fuller flavored, satisfying beer with a malty taste balanced by a hoppy finish.

Draft at the Anheuser-Busch Biergarten in St. Louis at the end of the brewery tour. Macro whale alert! Pours a clear orange-amber with a big off-white head. Notes of toasted and biscuit and caramel malts, hay, grass, and earth. Light-medium bodied, with high carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. I wish I could issue more of a corrective on those earlier shitty ratings from way back when, but I have to be honest. Either way, this is a well-made lager. I’d have no qualms about ordering one of these at a bar.

Draft on tap at the Anheuser Busch Brewery (St. Louis, MO). Pours a deep amber hue, a faint haziness and darker glow in the body. Frothy whitish head atop stays as a firm filmy. Decent lacing and stick around. Aromas are abit grainy, gentle carmelized malts and gentle earthiness. A touch of yeast, some muted paper and gentle honeybrown biscuit touch. Initial is medium bodied, a touch of girth with bready malts, crusty bread and a touch of carmelized malts. Bready, gentle yeastiness grows with a touch of oomph in the body. Some gentle faint toast, crisp touch of fruit. Backend is dry, crisp with gentle toast, earthiness and mellow grain backing. The beer has a decent touch of girth, toastiness in the middle. Not bad.

Sampled at the Biergarten. Pours a clear amber gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has lots of straw and grass with a bit of sweetness underlying. Flavor has a clean grain and straw note with a thin finish.

Beautifully co2ed draft at the brewer in stl. Nice amber color, big head nice lacing. Smell is noticeably hopped. Flavor has some granola like grain. Heavy hops for the style up front and a crisp of adjuncty finish. Hate that I like this. And I would drink it at 2$ a 12 pk any day.

Draft at STL brewery. Nose is caramel with some peppery hops. Pour is amazingly clear reddish color with a nice white head that laces. Moderately hoppy up front with a caramel note. Medium mouthfeel. Holy cow this may be the happiest beer from AB I’ve ever had. Actually really decent if this is at the same price point as other AB beers.

Draft - Cereal and some earthy hops. Clear gold with a rich white head. Bitter and dry with a bit if cereal malt. Best of the worst.

Tasted at St. Louis Brewer’s Guild Heritage Fest 2014 in a cool nonic sampler glass. It poured a clear orange amber with moderate white foam. Malty with caramelly and marshmallowy candy sweetness, but no distinct hoppy traits at all. Metallic and oxidized as always. Too-sticky mouthfeel. Presented as a true-to-style pre-Prohibition American amber lager, but sure seemed like a missed opportunity to me.
