COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep brown in color and creamy thick head are just the first signs that this is a different sort of brown ale. Rich flavors of chocolate and coffee with hints of roast bring the pallet alive, finishing with a lingering hoppy and roasted character that leaves you wanting more. This Robust American Brown Ale has a velvet and silky quality that makes you think you are enjoying a malt shake rather than a beer. Wonderful with food or as a stand alone, either way there is no longer a reason to fear the dark.

Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Good lacing. Nose of chocolate roasted malts. Medium body. Flavor is strongly chocolate and the finish is better. Excellent brown.

A pleasant roasted malty aroma hits the nose and follows up in the flavor with light chocolate, caramel, and coffee. If not for being overly thin in body, this would be a solid brown. Had to laugh at this ridiculously high score on RB, seemingly for no reason other than "it’s local."... "The most local beer I’ve ever tasted, so I may have a bit of bias, but nonetheless I’m super proud of this local small brewery." How bout rating it on its merits? Ya know...taste and smell and that kind of thing? "

22 oz. bomber from Nugget Market in Woodland. It pours a nice dark brown color with a creamy tan head. The aroma is very toasty/roasted with light notes of cocoa and floral/woody notes. The flavor is intense with roasted malt, woody/floral hops, some cocoa and light notes of molasses. Really intense flavor for a brown ale. Good use of hops. No citrusy stuff going on here, just good earthy, woody floral hops to complement the toasted/roasted malt. Very nice creamy mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this one.

Taster at Whole Lotta Brews going on at Whole Foods in Folsom. Coffee-forward almost porter. Pretty damn good beer for a brown.

Bottle thanks to timfoolery: Poured deep dark brown with a huge never ending light brown head. Aroma is herbal and malt. Taste is light metallic, nutty, and malts.

On tap @ American River. The pour is dark brown with a khaki head. Roast forward nose with some cocoa, coffee, and bitter chocolate. Some earthy hops in the background. A touch bitter on the palate. Dark chocolate, coffee, and plenty of roasted malt. Mild tea, cocoa powder, earth, and a hint of licorice.
