3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe in Davis, CA. Pours dark brown with ruddy glints and a creamy beige head. Smells like a very chocolate brown ale. Flavor is extremely chocolate. So much so that the grungy aspect of a typical brown is covered over. Finishes dry and chocolate. Amazing.

Dark, roasty, chocolately brown ale. I’ve never met a brown ale I liked until this.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
20 ounce sample on tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe (a few weeks ago). Lightly husky aroma with toasted hints. Mild sweetness also presents itself with some metallic and chocolate hints. Moderately transparent mahogany body with a smallish light tan head and ok lacing present. Starts a little spicy with some hop flavors. Becomes quite roasted and kind of burnt in the middle. Almost like a burnt popcorn character. Finishes with a lot of dryness and some tannin character. Not bad.
