Deep brown in color and creamy thick head are just the first signs that this is a different sort of brown ale. Rich flavors of chocolate and coffee with hints of roast bring the pallet alive, finishing with a lingering hoppy and roasted character that leaves you wanting more. This Robust American Brown Ale has a velvet and silky quality that makes you think you are enjoying a malt shake rather than a beer. Wonderful with food or as a stand alone, either way there is no longer a reason to fear the dark.

Taster at Whole Lotta Brews going on at Whole Foods in Folsom. Coffee-forward almost porter. Pretty damn good beer for a brown.

Bottle thanks to timfoolery: Poured deep dark brown with a huge never ending light brown head. Aroma is herbal and malt. Taste is light metallic, nutty, and malts.

~Rich milk chocolate aroma with bread, toffee, light caramel and light coffee. I could eat this aroma. Smells great. ~Pours a dark brown with red tints and a good sized creamy lasting brown head. ~Coffee flavor with chocolate, bread and toffee. ~Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel, medium CO2, lasting coffee finish. ~What an excellent brown ale. Possibly the best I have ever had.

On tap at Limelight. Dark brown pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma is mild but mostly chocolate with a touch of roasted malt. Flavor is dark chocolate with some mild bitterness and a nice roasty character as well. Medium bodied with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Overall this was a really good brown ale!

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe in Davis, CA. Pours dark brown with ruddy glints and a creamy beige head. Smells like a very chocolate brown ale. Flavor is extremely chocolate. So much so that the grungy aspect of a typical brown is covered over. Finishes dry and chocolate. Amazing.

Dark, roasty, chocolately brown ale. I’ve never met a brown ale I liked until this.
