Woodpecker (23), Warrenville, Illinois, USA Nov 2, 2005 One of my favorites. It has a beautiful color to it and excellent aroma of hops. The flavor of the hops are balanced well with the malt to provide a beer that is most drinkable. This one you drink for taste, not effect! TheCartel (10), Elburn, Illinois, USA Nov 1, 2005 Flavorful light hoppiness releases a crisp, clean, and sharply textured mouthfeel. Layers of hops cloak the tongue well into the delightful aftertaste. A perennially pleasant drinking experience. Cornfield (4388), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jan 21, 2005 Updated: Jul 8, 2005The brewmeister told me they’d just changed the recipe. I believe it, judging by the other ratings. This hazy copper, off-white headed beauty is inches away from IPA-hood, not coming across like an amber at all. The aroma is loaded with cascade hops, strong grapefruit with a bit of orange rind and some herbal earthiness. The taste has a solid malt backbone, but it is heaped with refreshing hop bitterness. I vote we change this amber to an IPA!

America’s Brewpub, Aurora, IL
frankenkitty (1831), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Jun 6, 2005 Sparkling amber with an off-white head that left full lacing. Hopcit and honey aromas that were attractive and none-too overbearing. Thorough yet mellow bitter flavor with a slick mouthfeel and a dry finish. I was told that this was as close as I could get right now to an IPA, but a true hop-head would not be satisfied. I happened to find it very clean and refreshing.

Nice cooper color. Great nose. Good balance between hops and malt. I’ve had the obligatory “Amber Ale” at many brewpubs and this one is one of the best. More hops and flavor in this then one would expect from a beer that is normally toned down for the general public.
