Personal Milestone: Illinois rating #300 (out of 1997)!
Drinking this was a pleasurable experience. Orange of body with a filmy white head, this made a strange setting for the aromatic battle that ensued. The strong bourbon aroma and the bitter NW scents from the dry hopping continually pushed back and forth, the sweet caramel base managing to seep out occasionally. Almost chewy, the bourbon takes the lead in the mouth, the caramel malt surging forward in the middle, closely tailed by a subdued hop bitterness. The malty sweetness, solidly bittered, comes first in the finish, bourbon fumes then filling the mouth and nose. Very, very good.
