frankenkitty (1798), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Nov 6, 2006 Pours like motor oil under an oil-slick of mocha. Awesome powerful aroma finds violet-laced chocolate sauce with a backdrop of menthol. A little hot, but I do like the way it warms the gullet. Chocolate and bourbon are a fine mix. A monster of a beer and most assuredly award-worthy.

timsilvia32 (249), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Oct 8, 2008 Dark brown/black pour. Rather dark brown head that disappated quickly. Boozy aroma, some roast malts. Taste was a little light, roast malt, caramel. A bit of tartness. Oak barrel comes through a bit as it warms. Finishes with too much alcohol. In my opinion the stout was not able to stand up to the barrel aging. BeerBunker (103), Burbank, Illinois, USA Oct 8, 2008 Pours black with a minimal brown head. Aroma is of cheap bourbon, malts, and caramel. Taste is first and foremost chocolate and malts, balanced with a toasty, oak and bourbon flavor. The bourbon flavors don’t overpower, they just balance. Mouthfeel is way more creamy than anticipated. This brew doesn’t rape the face like quite a few barrel aged beers. Overly drinkable. hombrepalo (506), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 26, 2008 12 oz. Ehh didn’t care too much for this Impy. Pours a rich black color with a frothy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. Taste of light oak. bourbon, roasted barley and chocolate with a light coffee presence. Finsh is semi sweet, nothing unique about this. 17thfloor (728), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 25, 2008 Pours thick pitch black with a medium brown sudsy foam on top. Funky fridge aroma, oxidized hops, vanilla, big bourbon, coffee, raisin. First taste is strong sour cream followed by lots of vanilla, some coffee, and bourbon. Raisin finish, lots of bourbon and bitter dark chocolate. Creamy body with light fine bubbled carbonation. This stuff is pretty raw... not a whole lot of "subtlety," burns a little going down... well I love cheap bourbon and beer... so why not =p kmeves (1010), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Sep 6, 2008 Pours an opache black with a small brown head. Aroma is medium sweet with bourbon, vanilla andchocolate. Flavor is very sweet with roast, bourbon, chocolate and nice bitterness. Full bodied, sticky texture. Nice long bourbon and sweet finish.
