On tap at the brewpub bar after the 12th Annual Drunk Monk Competition. The tap handle said Golden Ale, but there was tape blocking some initial wording. Mike described it as a lightly hopped Blonde Ale and told me the ingredients, so I’m going with the Golden Light label. He also disclosed that this was the base beer for the Chocolate Ale. The pint pour was a clear, golden amber, with modest, white foam to a head that diminished rather quickly to a pencil thin ring and light film, and left some light ribbons of lacing. The aroma was light malt, a touch of yeast, light mid-fruit, and a slight hint of banana. The flavor notes were a lighter version of the aroma’s, and in combination with low carbonation, gave off a somewhat thin and watery nature. But as a light ale, still a refreshing and sessionable brew.

a decent light beer if there is such a thing. i got the sampler at america’s brewpub and this was one of the five 5 ounce brews that they brought me. i chugged it(all 5 ounces!) because that is the purpose of light beer. and this was far better tasting and fresher than any macro light or lite beer
