Americas Hair of the Dog Barley Wine

wow I found this to be absolutely outstanding. dark brown pour with a beaut of a creamy white head. nose didn’t do the flavor justice but the flavor was so robust and packed with deliciousness. big time barley sharp hop bite, some lite fruit notes. great brew.

This poured dark enough to have me initially wondering if the bartender had brought me the wrong beer. Served in a snifter, it’s a very dark brown and is capped with a sustained, creamy tan head. Nice lacing. The aroma is malty, sweet with juicy fruits, has a touch of toffee, and a whiff of alcohol. Smooth. The flavor is a pleasant blending of the elements from the aroma, although the toffee seems to fade, being replaced by a mild earthy bitterness that intensifies somewhat towards the finish. Good stuff.
