On tap at the brewpub, December 26, 2008. Murky golden with a large, frothy egg-white head that is long lasting. Slightly mild rye aroma, some light sweet malt and a moderately sour grain flavor, light notes of apricot and peach. Nice mouthfeel - pillowy soft carbonation with a full, chewey feel. Finish has a bit of oakiness. Solid beer, but nothing to necessarily write home about.

Had on tap at the brewpub in a pint glass. I didn’t take good notes beyond the numbers, but it was just fine.

Draught. Pours an orange amber with a whispy off-white head. Aroma is mild. Mild dry and nutty with sweet caramel notes spice notes. Faintly bitter finish. Medium bodied with little carbonation. Okay.

Right off the bat I notice an overwhelming aroma of buttered popcorn. It was not a good thing. mixed with the caramelly malts it got a bit better, but then showed up in a big way while consuming too and that was a big big turn off. Too powerful to overcome. Wasn’t horrible as I went along, but didn’t reach my "good beer" standard either.

Tap: This pours a deep amber body with a sustained, good lacing head. The aroma and flavor are sweet caramel, toast, toffee, and some apples and pears. The light hop presence keeps the sweetness from getting overwhelming. Sessionable.
