3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I have no notes concerning the appearance, but, as with many beers at the festival, I recall the head was of the minimalist’s ilk. The nose was quite fruity with cherries and apples, sweet with a pale maltiness, warm with alcohol, and lightly bittered to balance it out. Both the hoppy bitterness and the alcohol peppery spiciness grow in the flavor and leave you with a warm, somewhat bitter finish. This is a pretty hot barleywine, but I’m fairly certain that Mr. Rybinski will have already barrelled some by now. Can’t wait.
