railcat1 (502), Hammond, Indiana, USA Jul 17, 2008 sampled on DLD 08 and this was a good IPS and it had hints of coffee and chocolate but it was kinda thin for a IPS and yet it was nice and malty.CHEERS!
hopscotch (4661), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jul 8, 2008 Draft… DLD’08… Pours pitch black with a small, fizzy, light brown head. Notes of chocolate and espresso with a hint of diacetyl are released from the diminishing head. Full-bodied and oily with modest carbonation. Sweet and chocolaty up front; burnt and bitter on the backside. Bitter-sweet, acrid finish. Headbanger (1006), Aurora, Illinois, USA Jul 7, 2008 Draft At Brewery(4/25/08)-A pitch black body with a small ring for a head. Has an aroma of coffee. Taste of chocolate and coffee on this medium bodied brew. I felt this to be a little weak for an Imperial Stout. RAYBOY01 (1654), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 17, 2008 My sample looked and smelled great...black pour with a huge robust head emitting a rich roasty aroma. But the first sip revealed a very, very distinct lactic(?) sourness that just should not be there. I’ll rerate on another batch. JMerritt (1118), Macomb, USA Mar 1, 2008 On tap in January 2008 @ my cousin’s wedding reception being held at Walter Payton’s Roundhouse. (This offering was named "Storm Trooper Imperial Stout" on the menu.) Jet black with no head. No light shines through when held up to the light. Aroma of oak, some slight vanilla, light roast, and bittersweet cocoa. Woody flavor, very smooth, oakiness is again prevalent. Semi-bitter hoppiness and fresh coffee middle, earthy, almost minty finish. Wonderful.
