3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 1FastSTi (3000) - Glendale, USA - JUN 28, 2007
RBSG 2007. I quite enjoyed this beer. In fact, this is the one beer I was dying to try and the one as to why I really went to RBSG. It pours to a hazy caramel colored body with a thin white head. The aroma is basil, oregano, tomatoes, and light pepperoni with a crusty dough. The flavor is oregano, tomato, basil, and mozzarella cheese. The palate is moderately balanced, which is surprising. I gave it a high overall mark because it was highly surprising it didn’t taste bad. In fact, I was quite intrigued.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 HogTownHarry (4872) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - APR 17, 2012
February 15, 2011. My 500ml? bottle shared with blankboy and garthicus. Ugh. Just .... ugh. Oregano and beer is just WRONG. Tomato and beer as well. Anyway. Clear deep gold with a smallish dull off-white head. Smell is .... memorable. Weird. Like really pungent marinara sauce with parmesan - oregano, tomato, garlic, and buttery paper - I don’t know what to give this 1? 6? 5? - let’s just go with 4. Tastes a bit vegetal, standard golden ale, nowhere near as much of the pizza character as the aroma - maybe a bit of garlic and alcohol. Average body, average carbonation, the finish starts okay, but the vegetal/oregano thing picks up again in the linger and .... did I say this was a WRONG idea? I don’t hate it, and it’s probably well made, but no thank you ever again.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 nolankowal (917) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 20, 2007
Growler RBSG 07. Yellow pour with a short white head. Aroma of oregano, basil, tomato, light pepper and pale malt. Flavors of basil, light tomato, pale malt, yeast, and oregano. Light body, malty, spicy, pizza-ie. The most interesting brew of that night hands down, I only wish I had a slice of pepperoni at the time for garnish. Major points for originality.

On tap at the brewpub on 6/20/07: Pours a transparent yellow golden with a full-lacing frothy white head. Aroma of basil, oregano and garlic along with a touch of pale malt, really does smell like pizza. Body starts with some light caramel malty sweetness, a touch of bready yeast, tomato and Italian spice balance. Incredibly unique and strangely enjoyable.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - OCT 5, 2007
RBSG 07 Minneapolis Grand Tasting: Hazy gold, no head or lacing. Nose of basil, a little oregano, light tomato, some malt and dough. The flavor is clean, light malts, lots of spices. Interesting beer that really tastes like pizza. Wish I could try a pint.

(Growler) Pours a lightly cloudy amber body with a small white head. Aroma of basil, oregano, olives, tomato, and sour dough. Somewhat offensive herbal flavor with garlic and tomato. Interesting...

On tap at the brewpub. Cloudy, dried-apricot color with a medium white head, mostly diminishing. Ok, first off, this aroma made me literally laugh out load - oregano, basil, tomato - and by psychological default your brain tells you "pizza!" Flavor: fruity apricot, mango mixed with slight pine and oregano. After tasting, going back to the aroma I can now pick out hints of citric hops. Flavor isn’t as "pizza-y" as aroma - rather crisp, sweet and refreshing. Moderately carbonated. What an interesting beer - as a basil and tomato lover, this stuff was awesome.

Wierd. Hazed yellow with no head. It smells and tastes like pizza spices. Oregano and garlic seemed to be in the front. Certainly worth trying.

RBSG 2007 Grand Tasting. Cloudy yellow with no head. Oregano/basil nose and flavor, some breadiness. Weak body detracts from what could have been a pretty interesting beer. I think some flavors are noticed through the power of "pizza suggestion". Still, not bad for what is basically a gimmick beer.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 troyc (2014) - Oklahoma, USA - JUL 21, 2007
(Tap @ Brewpub) Pours a hazy light amber color, with little head. Very fragrant, with a strong oregano aroma that can be detected across the table. I personally expected more in the way of tomatoes, but all I really got was the spices (oregano, basil, garlic) and some funk. Garlic is especially notable in the aftertaste. That being said, this is still a very good beer that is certainly worth trying! I could have actually drank a couple more of these.
