frankenkitty (1789), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Jun 6, 2005 Mild yellow in appearance with lively carbonation and a small white head. Faint grassy aroma. Lightly bitter with a short finish. Good chaser to a spicy meal with a better mouthfeel than a macro.

pope_phred (91), Plainfield, Illinois, USA Aug 18, 2008 Poured from the bottle into a double-walled pint glass. Pour produced a cloudy, golden (almost golden brown) body tipped with a small white head of foam, the darkness and lack of clarity was not what I was expecting from a pilsner. Aroma was rich caramel and light hops notes, not unpleasant, just different. Bitter from the outset, with a fair carbonation and medium body, this beer has a dry, tacky palate with notes of burnt caramel with a slight bit of sweetness at the end. Lacing was good throughout the tasting, though that didn’t change my overall view of this beer, which was that it had a muddled buttery caramel nose and flavor profile which detracted from the dry crispness that I expect from a pilsner. 17thfloor (637), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 7, 2008 Pours a light golden with smaller bubbles and a nice creamy white froth on top. Really odd aroma, sour and way sweet, it does kind of smell like a stick of butter. First taste is sweet, sugary, and sour, funky for sure, lots of citrus??? odd breadiness... strangely acidic. Kind of a woody finish with grains in the aftertaste. JPDIPSO (4210), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jun 28, 2008 Hazy golden color with a moderate foamy, off-white head. Light malt, grain and celery scents. Mild acidity also detected in the nose. Light pale malt start that leads to amino acid and and mild vegetable juice flavors. Some mild wood in the finish and linger has a bit of nuttiness. Does not seem well made. davidoc (109), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 26, 2008 Poured pale yellow from the bottle with little head. I wanted to love this beer as much as I love Walter Payton, but the taste was somewhat thin. pumpmaster (265), Florida, USA Jun 10, 2008 Tap at The Walter Payton’s Roundhouse in Aurora, IL in 1996 Not bad at that time.
