3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark black pour (although not pitch black). Aroma shows a bit of black licorice and a touch of charred malts as well. There is a soft spiciness on the back of the palate. Fairly peppery with a bit of ethanol apparent in the mouth. Light roasty astringency and some surprisingly subtle aromatics. Itís quite the wimpy impy.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Coffee aroma. Really bold rich coffee, taste on tap at the brewpub. Creamy mouthfeel, lace on brandy brown though minimal head. Bitter. One of their best in this place, unfortunately inconsistent.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Velvety cushions (nitroed) on which coffee beans sit proudly...Sweetness and roastiness are just loving each other, creating a well-balanced malt bitterness...Grapey esters sprinkled atop render complexity to the medium/intense flavors...My favorite offering of theirs that day...

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice charcoal body. Brown chocolate head is very sticky, long-lasting. Big malty aroma with restrained roastiness, thick greasy malts, dark and oaty. At the border between imperial and oatmeal stout, but I would definitely have enjoyed it more without the greasy touch. I truly like the flavor. This is like chewing on oat chunks, not too sweet, not too bitter. Flour and chocolate/coffee flavors. Pretty good. By far the thickest beer Iíve had there, so they could actually give their porter a fuller body, which is a nice thing to know. Low carbonation seems appropriate. Relieving body even.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask conditioned, engine pour: Pitch black with a good creamy light brown head and excellent lace which clings to the glassware. Big bold aroma of burnt and nutty malt, molasses, semi-sweet chocolate, coffee, leather, caskwood, cherry. Dark chocolate attack on the taste buds with a fruity sidekick, rich and lush mouthfeel. To save this brew from becoming too much, a bitter, smoky and woody finish helps provide balance. It's on the finish where the cask-conditioning shines. Medium to full-bodied with a wonderful mouthfeel. Damn, I do like a well done cask imperial, just a bit more hop character and even richer body and this may have been world-class. Still a nice find and a must try if available. #9 in my Stouts of November.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Roasted malts and notes of coffee in the lightly fruity aroma. Opaque, dark brown with generous brown (nitro) head that lasts nicely and recedes finally with some good lacing. Sweetness and roasty bitterness spar to a draw with chocolatey spectators. Medium-full body and creamy, smooth mouthfeel. On tap at the brewpub with MartinT and Rastacouere.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium-full body, not heavy and perhaps even a little light, as many of this breweryís products were. VERY chocolaty, but somehow not too sweet; perhaps just a bit too smooth, no edginess. Little hops until the rather abrupt finish; the flavor is nice and rich though the body could be thicker, and I wanted more, but on the whole itís fairly simple. Great for most other beer styles, this is rather an ordinary Imperial; seemed more like a strong Oatmeal to me.
