COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
From Birra Amiata, one of Italy’s most creative craft brewers, comes this marvelous Italian take on the India Pale Ale style. A delicately hopped nose marries perfectly with an assertively hopped malt character to give a beer that is full-bodied with a clean, bright finish. Re-fermened in the bottle.

Draft at Alla Spina with Mr. PJs. Pours a clear amber body with thin white lacing. Aroma is weird hoppy dishwater. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with notes of bitter hop, maybe some pine but very faint. Ok, tastes closer to a pilsner.

Bottle. Hazy golden body, light copper highlights. Frothy white head, diminishing. Hop aroma of flowers, perfume, citrus. Notes of toasted grain, herbs. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. More delicate and flavorful than American IPAs. And more complex. Restrained bitterness allows tastes of toasted grain, apricot, pineapple and tropical fruit stay on the tongue into the finish. Clean malts. Taste of bitter tropical fruit lingers.

Bottle. Aroma is floral, perfume, a little earthy. Pours hazy amber, minimal head. Taste is surprisingly sweet, with stale hops, caramel, and a lot of flower and ripe fruit. Appropriate level of bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation.

Marstonlad (386) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 3, 2013
Draught at Viisi Penniä, Helsinki. Pours cloudy golden with a little white head. Aroma has strong exotic, tropical fruitiness, peach and apricot more than citrus. Taste is light sweet at first, then moderately bitter, crisp and fruity. Exotic fruity notes dominate and are actually pretty strong for an IPA. No cat’s piss or alcohol. Palate is smooth, medium to full bodied and sticky. Very enjoyable, richly fruity IPA.

Slightly hazy golden orange with a giant white head that eventually fades down to a film. Nice lacing and a lot of tiny bubbles in the glass. Really nice sweet citrusy aroma with a lot of grapefruit and orange. There’s also an earthy character to it. Taste is mostly citrus rind, a little herbal and earthy. Bitterness lasts. Dry on the palate. Crisp.
