The aging in the whiskey barrel dominated. The first sips were intriguing because of it, but unfortunately the creativity of the brewer became lost. I wonder if a whisky barrel would have been better.

Draught. Pours black with an average, frothy, dark brown head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, nutty), average hops (flowers, perfume), average yeast (dough, leather) with notes of heavy alcohol, wood, and vanilla. Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

(Growler) Pours an opaque black body with a moderate tan head. Aroma of bourbon, wood, vanilla, and molasses. Flavor of vanilla, oak barrel, roasted malt, and coffee.

Draught @ Amicas. Dark pour with a brown head. Corn whiskey dominates the aroma, with hints of maple, coffee and dark malt. It’s very boozey, with lots of corn whiskey flavors. That aspect is a little off-putting and the body is a tad thin. But. It’s also got some really lovely subtle flavors, notably the irish cream, coffee, black licorice and fruits. Solid effort.
