Draught. Pours clear amber with a small, fizzy, off-white head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cookie, hay, straw), average hops (flowers, grass), average yeast (dough, earth) with notes of apple and pear. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a thin head of short duration, no lacing, over a clear, pale reddish brown body.....nose is very fruity including multiple different berries, with the addition of , ? coriander, ? clove and similar spices....tastes again of fruits and spices, some sweet tones, and lingering honey aromas at the end....good mouth feel. The title of a Belgian Strong is mine alone. At the brewery it is called a Belgian Style Abbey. This category is not available in the Rate Beer styles. According to BJCP criteria, the ale is not really a Dubble, Triple or Abt Quad and seems to my palate, alone, to fit best into the more specific category of Belgian Strong, which is separate from the Abbey grouping. It is evolving and is quite delicious.
