2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 beerinmarch (2830) - USA - DEC 16, 2004
On tap at the Amnesia brewery. I’m not quite sure about the style of this brew, it pours dark almost black, i think its supposed to be a stout. Pours black with a small tan head. Chocolate, coffee, and licorice aroma. Thinner taste, mild roast with a bitter bakers chocolate start and a moderate dry bitter finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BrewDad (3657) - Olympia, Washington, USA - JUL 13, 2011
Dark brown in color, clear with a thin tan head. Filled with fruit and spice aroma and flavor. Lots of dried like fruit flavors and added alcohol. This was tasty and warms up super. I loved that this stayed still as ever consistent when it warmed up. Very nice beer.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 neepsntatties (757) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 14, 2010
The 2009 SJ on tap at Amnesia’s winter ale fest (2010). Colour...nearly black with no head. Nose... burnt sugar, dark caramel and loam. Palate... gentle CO2, light molasses, turbinado, roasted chestnuts, oak, light coffee and a slightly dry/sweet malty finish. I haven’t much liked this one in the past, but a year of ageing has done it wonders!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 riversideAK (4553) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 5, 2009
Nice aroma of dark chocolate, dark fruits, and roasted malts. Pours dark brown alomst black with a really nice brown head and sticky lacing. Roasted malts, sweet dark fruits, caramel, and chocolate in the flavors. Some earthy bitterness and roast on the finish along with some residual sweetness as well. Hops are earthy and the finish is long and dry.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackDonald (1127) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 2, 2008
I would have called this an ESA, but that’s just me. Nose is full of dark fruits, a bit of candy sweetness, and the roasted maltiness that will soon envelop your palate. Lots of dark plums and raisins notes, some brown sugar and roasted coffee and caramel. Some spice and hops coming through in the finish. Absolutely lovely!
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 cathcacr (620) - Oregon, USA - MAR 30, 2008
On draft at the Amnesia pub. The flavor and palate came across as somewhat watery and weak; an attempt to be an interesting beer but I just wasn’t getting it.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Angeloregon (2054) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 28, 2007
On tap everywhere that loves great beer in Portland (we had it at Concordia)--Poured a dark brown-black body with little tan-beige head. Nose of sweet malty, chewy grains and gritty loveliness. Sweet raisiny fruits and plummy favorability. This is becoming a Portland classic. My sleigh was fully jerked. Citric chewy nutty and biting hops in the finish. Very nutty and winterific. Keep this beer in mind if you decide to explore Portland’s beer scene in the winter.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 harlequinn (2745) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JAN 10, 2006
Pours quite dark and was served way too cold, so I waited a few minutes and came back to it and it really opened up nicely. This has alot of dark fruit flavor, and the spices from the fruits are really showcased. Lots of chocolate and a roasted nuttiness rounds out the flavor profile.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 3fourths (6385) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 3, 2005
Batch 2 - 7.2% ABV, down from 8% in batch 1. Dark brown and black color, small medium tan head. Roasty plums, spices, bitter, spicy, creamy... all those things.. it really resembles Anchor OSA 2004, but the brewer said no spices were used... only malt and hops... so the flavors of brown sugar, juniper, belgian yeast and cranberries are all derived from the chocolate malts, cascade and chinook hops? Weird.
