3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Brouwers. Went in for the Imperial IPA, came out with the Porter. Dammit. Murky, muddy brown pour, with a decent thin head. The aroma is of some chocolate with a good dose of earthy hops. Dry earthy flavor, light underlying chocolate sweetness, long earthy hop finish. Pretty hoppy, but subtle at the same time. Maybe a little thin.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at Bye and Bye, just listed as "porter". Fully black color with a creamy head of light tan. The aroma is pretty mild and consists mostly of creamy roasted malt. The flavor is dry and has plenty of smooth roasted malt, a hint of chocolate, and mellow hops. Neither very bitter nor sweet and goes down very easily. Medium bodied with smooth, medium carbonation. Dark chocolate smoothness for the most part, almost like a dry stout with lower bitterness from both hops and roast. A little plain, but a fine porter.
