Got a 50cl bottle from the brewer himself, João Palmeira. This is a really interesting beer. Dark copper color with thin head. Taste is a bit of all, light sweet, light bitter and light sour. Nice and balanced. Body is medium and texture is lightly sticky. Carbonation is medium and the finish and long and bitter. Nice! Aroma is medium malty, light caramel, herbs, spices, pepper, some alcohol, some wood, cellar. Very good!

Bottle shared at Chrisso’s May 2014 tasting 25/05/2014. Thanks to Paul the portugal pusher. Aroma is subdued light orange , lemon and grains. Light hazed golden coloured pour with a light white head. Flavour is apple, banana, stale malts. Palate is flabby, somewhat thin, and grainy. Pretty bad.

Bottle at the chriso May 2014 tasting - London. Pours lightly hazy gold with a white cream topping. The nose has dry wheat and light citrus rind. Medium sweet flavor with some leaves, dry bread, orange and yeast. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with more wheat bread and bitter leaves. Meh.

A mediocre Scotch as far as Scotch ales go, but pretty decent as a Portuguese beer. Picked it up in a store in Braga with Kent and Nick in 2014. Light amber colored, musty aroma with a too sweet finish.

Bottle from andregoncalves, many thanks!

Tasting at the ever gracious ChrisO’s. Lightly hazy gold beer, tidy off white head. Palate is airy and dry. Fine carbonation. Light tangy dried fruits. Airy floralness. Light dry finish. Fresh air beer, inoffensive.

Bottle @ Chriso May 14 tasting. Not a wee heavy or scotch ale by any stretch. Pours hazy amber, some light citrus, white wine, thin sweetness, light bitterness. A little weak, but alright I guess.

Bottle via trade, shared at Chriso. It pours clear golden with a medium white head. The nose is toasted grain, light sweetness, apple and dull sort of smoke. The taste is crisp, doughy, hay, grain, touch watery, toast, apple and melon. Lightish body and moderate carbonation. A bit tepid. Scotch ale??? I think not. So-so.

Chriso May 2014 tasting. Hazy amber lasting beige head. Some Belgian yeast. Some toffee. I thought ok. Some hop. Ok.

Review according to BJCP2008 guidelines (style 9E). Bottle 50 cl - Batch 003-14. AROMA: strong floral and resinous hop aroma. very low malt aroma for the style. APPEARANCE: light copper color with orange tint. average ivory head with low retention and no lacing for the rated abv. TASTE: strong hop flavour with no malt. strong bitterness that longers from the beggining to the end. completely the oposite of the advertised style. PALATE: very thin body. no alcohol warmth. low carbonation. OVERALL: strangely, perhaps another case of mislabeling from this brewery as this "Scotch Strong Ale" more resembles a poor IPA...

[Thanks to andregoncalves]. Bottled. Brown colour with minimal and quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma has notes os light caramel and moderate toasty with yeasty hints. Flavor is yeasty, slightly caramel and with a poor maltiness.
