2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MoritzF (7342) - Bochum, GERMANY - JUL 19, 2005
(bottle) Clear copper colour with a small foamy slightly off-white head. Aromatic floral nose of violet blossoms with a touch of malts. Unfortunately the aroma becomes a bit skunky when the beer warms up(!). Dry and slight bitter flavour, medium body. Bread malty taste with a slight fruity background and a dry and hopbitter finish of medium length. Not bad but also not overwhelming.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 bitter (1137) - Henderson, Nevada, USA - APR 27, 2005
slightly darker then your typical pils...this one even had a bit more flavor then those awful other amstel beers. sweet biscuit maltiness with a tang of bitterness at the end.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 pivo (2540) - GERMANY - FEB 21, 2005
Medium color, fluffy white head. Light grainy lager nose. Creamy honey-ish malt with some caramel towards the end before finishing off with a broad, dull bitter. This beer always seems to taste better in Amsterdam and on tap. I don’t think it travels well.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 JorisPPattyn (6710) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JAN 22, 2005
Darker metallic-gold; white collapsing head leaving lace. Very herbal and grassy nose, nearly oppressive. Vague hint of caramel. Cookies, biscuity taste, isn’t oxydated, but the taste reminds me of it. Finish is again herbal-bitterish, nearly metallic. Again hints of caramel. Slightly slick mouthfeel, as flour in suspension, mild burning sensation. Not bad as Dutch pilseners go. If sitting totally dazed in Dordrecht C.S. at 00.15 AM, one might even like it.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 imdownthepub (7461) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 1, 2004
Bottled, pasteurised. Light golden beer with lasting white head, highly carbonated. Interesting Pilsner Lager with at least some flavour even if on the cardboard side. Dry and bitter with a sharp finish.

This is too bitter. With not much taste. I espected something else from Amstel.

Not a bad lager at all. Tastes as dark as it looks (!? if you know what I mean...)
Good bit of hops. This one is from a bottle but I have had it draught in the bar at Schipol Airport.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 robbier (12) - noordwijkerhout, NETHERLANDS - OCT 4, 2004
More taste than the average Dutch pilsener, the bitterness always reminds me more of the first time I drank a beer,
than the heineken pilsener i actually drank.
