You put a lemon in it, so it tastes like lemon. Still it is thirst quenching on a hot day.

Tropical lager named Amstel from a transparent longneck bottle - expectations are low, to say the least. Cristal clear, pale golden blonde with relatively quiet fizz, thin and loose, snow white head breaking in instants but remaining more or less stable around the edges. Strong lightstruck aroma first (stale pee), lots of iron, goat cheese, wet and old paper, refined sugars, rotting grass, sourish grains, something chemical (burning plastic). Sourish and sweetish onset but both subdued, tingling carbonation but not as fizzy as usual for the style, grainy, thin and watery body, some sugary sweetness appearing in the middle but low in the malts department, minerals and clearly metallic, brief and shy hint of grassy hop bitterishness in the finish, but that chemical wryness lingering a little bit as well; bland, watery, metallic and a bit chemical, this meets the low expectations I had. Apparently it has been brewed in the Netherlans since 2013 (the original brewery in Willemstad has even been deconstructed meanwhile), so I guess this entry ought to be split in two, the ... - 2006 version from Curaçao and the 2013 - ... version from Holland?

Bottle. A clear, pale golden beer with a small, white head. The aroma is quite grainy and malty, with grassy, piney hops and a generic fruityness. It’s rather thin on the palate, with a soft carbonation, semi-dry. Fruityness, pale malts and grains in the flavor, a touch of bitterness too. Lasting grainy and fruity finish with some grass and pine cones. Superbly boring this one, might work better in the heat. 150228

275ml Flasche. Klar und golden. Minimale Schaumkrone. Leicht getreidiges Aroma, insgesamt aber sehr wässrig. Dennoch für die pralle Mittagssonne auf Curaçao genau das Richtige.

Ge pour with light white head. Aroma is light pilsner malt and corn. Flavor is sweet corn followed by a light floral bitter. Light body with aggressive carbonation. An after taste of almost cloying corn. Not bad for a pale lager Bonaire
