Medium straw yellow with a thin, lacy, lasting, white head. Smells of pale malt, soft hops, toasted bread, corn and dough. Medium to thin body with soft carbonation. Tastes of sweet pale malt, with a soft bitter finish. Grain, grass, corn, and yeast. Simple and cheap

On tap @ a random restaurant in Amstelveen. White head typical golden color lager. Fine bitter aftertaste but a very boring beer.

500ml can. Every other bar in Holland has a sign for this over their door, so why not try it? It can’t be worse than Canadian, can it? Looks pretty nice in the glass. Pale golden colour, with a good sized off white head. The nose is straw, cereal notes, mineral notes, and light yeast. A little more watery than most Euro-pilsners, with mild sweetness, straw, malt, light caramel, and just a bit of metallic bitterness in the finish. So overall, meh. Compared to Canadian? Sure, why not.

Typical pale lager, light malt and some bitter in the finish. It was cold and I was in the Netherlands. Not much head, light beer, clear.

Normal lager if you are ok with sour aftertaste. I’m not, so I wouldn’t advice this beer.

Sampled during beerpong @ Colin’s. Clear golden color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly bitter, lightly hayish. Average pilsener, could be worse.

50cl can. Freshly brewed. Bread and dough in aroma. Full golden color, pours clear with fine head and beautiful lacing. Well balanced pale lager - light, smooth and refreshing. Definitely full bodied lager, creamy in texture, softly carbonated with rather quick, sharp finish.
When I am travelling, and want to get something from the easily drinkable stuff (means I am tired of local improvisations on beer topic :-) ) - I usually go for Amstel or Heineken

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2013 Takie sobie, choc sadze ze to czeskie jest bardziej smaczne i tresciwsze niz to Greckie czy nawet orginalne Holenderskie. Pollitrowa butelka. Piwo wyglada podobnie do czeskich piw Lezakow. W smaku jakby zatecki chmiel. Goryczka pelna i lekko slodowy posmak. Trwala piana jak na euro lagera, ale wszystko to mysle dlatego ze wyprodukowane w Czechach.

I think people here have to realize that the one brewed in Greece tastes differently to the Dutch brewed one. If anyone has had Amstel in Greece, that will be the Greek brewed one. I think there should be a separate page to avoid confusion.
